This may come as a surprise to some but I was a cheerleader in high school and college. Cheerleaders have a special place within the American lexicon. Everyone has a story about either being a cheerleader, dating a cheerleader, trying out to be a cheerleader or loathing a cheerleader. Cheerleaders are as American as apple pie.
Regardless of your experience with cheerleaders they have a special purpose that often goes overlooked. Cheerleaders are there to encourage you. Cheering was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved performing in front of the crowd and the respect received from peers, but mostly I just enjoyed being able to encourage people without looking sappy and dorky.
Truth is, we all get to a point in life where we need a personal cheerleader. Whether it is to help you celebrate with a friend who is walking down the aisle before you, or to help you get over the disappointment of not getting that promotion, or to encourage you to make healthy life choices, we are here to be your cheerleader. And somedays, we might need you to be our cheerleader. No matter what role we fill, the point is that together, we can do this thing called life!
So, sassy single ladies: WE CAN DO THIS!
