With Beyonce’s song “Single Ladies” climbing the charts everyone is talking about what it means to be single. Of course, people are always talking about what it means to be single in a society that places greater emphasis on families than us singles. But that doesn’t change how valuable we are to society.
The demographics are changing and after being the shunned members of society, singles now make up a majority. Single women are climbing the career ladder, buying homes, traveling the world, adopting children and even speaking to world leaders on behalf of our country! To quote Virigina Slims, we have come a long way baby! (That was not an invitation to smoke!!!) But for all of our gains, we still struggle with the emotional side of being single in a world that tells us we’re incomplete unless we are someone’s better half.
My friends and I were thinking about that and decided to start a dialogue with the other single ladies out there. Hopefully you will find time to share your stories in the comments or even send in guest blogs! We would love to hear from you. And we want the world to know, that all the single ladies have something to say! Soundoff.
